Abercorn School
Abercorn School in an independent prep school and nursery in Marylebone. It looks after pupils from age 2.5 to 13. The school was an all boys school, until recently expending to become a mixed school. The school has a prestigious reputation, being one of the best independent prep school in Marylebone, and one of the top 3 primary schools in the area. Because of this, the level of cleaning they require needs to be exceptional, and display the same commitment to services that they themselves emanate.
We look after three locations for Abercorn. With the most recent contract awarded in August 2021. We supply the Marylebone location with 36 weeks of term time cleaning and 3 weeks of periodics, and the remaining two with 39 weeks of term time cleaning and 3 weeks of periodics. Deep carpet cleaning is provided twice a year, and scheduled in at the start of the academic year. All periodic works are planned in advance, with the Contract Manager coordinating the operative’s holiday around periodic activities.
The PCS Group are committed to paying all our operatives no less than the minimum wage. We understand there are budget restrictions in some school contracts, and look to make savings elsewhere in the contract to be able to provide over the minimum wage or the London Living Wage. At Abercorn, we have been paying the operatives a very attractive wage. This has assisted in retention of the staff. This in turn ensures the schools are serviced by experienced and well trained operatives, who are fully aware of the high standards expected.
The school boasts specialist areas for sports, music, and computing. These areas are approached with additional care to preserve the integrity of materials and surroundings. Operatives receive specialist training to look after fabrics used in these rooms. As well as maintaining the finishes on floors and furniture. In computer rooms, only operatives who have received electrical cleaning training are permitted to clean. This training included the cleaning of computer towers, monitors, keyboards, and trailing cables. The greatest care must be taken in rooms such as this to, not only protect the equipment, but to protect the operative. Health and Safety Risk Assessments are carried out at the start of every contract. Our Health and Safety Consultant assesses each of these for acts of compliance, and Method Statements on the appropriate course of action to complete the cleaning is issued. Update training is provided to operatives at a minimum of once yearly.
